Just a short one for Gray, because seriously, who doesn't love him?

Natalie was sat on the stairs to
the second floor. Laxus sat beside her. It was a compromise they had, a space
between the floors that connected them. They had met through the headphones
they both always carried, and a strong friendship had blossomed. They spoke of
many things, and they sparred often. But today they were simply sat, as Natalie’s
sharp green eyes were focused on a particular mage across the room.
This particular mage was fairly new to the
guild. She was good with her magic, and she was a nice enough person. Natalie
just couldn’t stand her, she irked her in a way that Natalie couldn’t shrug
off. Every time she saw that curled blue hair a rush of irritation rushed
through her. Every time she heard the words, “Juvia does,” Natalie had to
resist the urge to lunge at the mage and beat her until she learned how to use
the word “I”.
Even through all of this,
Natalie couldn’t stop watching as Juvia walked around the room. “Juvia is
getting a drink.” She said to Lucy, and then walked over to Mira. Natalie’s
fists clenched.
“I don’t like her.” She
muttered, and felt Laxus’s body shudder in a quiet laugh.
“I can tell. And I wonder why…”
His voice trailed off, but his tone was teasing. He laughed again as green eyes
glared at him, “Oh Gray-sama, Juvia loves you!” He said in a high mocking voice,
“Oh Gray-sama, please punish Juvia!” Natalie elbowed him, but couldn’t deny
that his imitation had a hint of anger running through her veins.
She had always been close with
the Ice mage, she and Gray went on missions together all the time. Or, they did
until she showed up. Juvia followed Gray
around like a puppy, and since Gray was too polite to tell her to leave, it was
Natalie who left. She just couldn’t stand her!
“You know, if you just told Gray,
you’d be done with all of this.” Laxus said, “although your jealousy is
entertaining.”
“I’m not jealous.” Natalie spat
out through gritted teeth. “I just don’t like her.”
“Because she gets more time with
Gray. I don’t know why you don’t just go for a shag, what’s the worst that can
happen?”
Natalie glared again, but she
knew he was right. Why was Gray always putting up with Juvia? Wasn’t he
aggravated? Didn’t he find her annoying? Did he honestly prefer her company?
If she was honest with herself –which
she wasn’t- she would admit that that was what bothered her the most. Natalie
herself was also a water mage, and felt like Gray had replaced her. Did Gray
really like Juvia more than her? It seemed so, the two of them were always
together.
As if the universe knew her
thoughts, Gray walked in. Natalie saw Juvia’s eyes light up. “Gray-sama! Juvia
saved a seat for you!”
Natalie scoffed, “I’ll see you
around Laxus.” She got up and made her way down the stairs. She kept her eyes
on the door, knowing that if she saw Juvia clinging to Gray that her anger
might explode. She walked with quick footsteps, but they were not fast enough.
“Nat! Natalie!” She turned and
saw Gray running up to her. “Haven’t seen you in a while.”
“I’ve been busy.” Natalie
replied shortly.
“Nat, what’s wrong?” Gray looked
concerned, but Natalie didn’t care.
“I’m fine, I’m going home.”
“Oh, well we’re going on a
mission tomorrow if you want to join us. We could really use your help on this
one.”
“Psh, yeah right.”
“Seriously Nat, what’s the
matter?”
“Nothing.” Natalie began walking
towards the door again.
“Then why won’t you come on the
mission with us?” he asked, half yelling.
“Because you’ve got a perfect
little water mage all ready to suck your dick over there, why don’t you take her instead!”
Natalie yelled, her voice seething. Laxus was looking with entertainment from
the stairs, everyone else in the guild was just staring with open eyes. Natalie
was usually not like this. Sure she was a little sarcastic, but never this
angry. She stalked out of the door, slamming it behind her.
People began to mumble about
her, but Gray just looked at the door with calculating eyes. He knew now what
was wrong.

“You’re not the pizza man.”
Natalie’s voice was flat as she looked at the man stood at her door, the
shirtless Ice mage. He stepped inside without invitation and Natalie shut the
door behind him. Turning to look at him she was pushed back into the wood and
suddenly Gray’s mouth was on hers, forceful and hard.
Her hands pressed to his chest,
pushing him off her. “What are you doing!”
“I don’t want Juvia, it’s always
been you. Apparently this is the only way to make you see it.” He said, locking
his eyes with hers to watch as she processed it.
“But, you two are always
together.” She said, her voice becoming unsure.
“Because she follows me! And one
day you just stopped talking to me!”
“I… I don’t like Juvia.” She
said in a small voice.
“You were jealous.” He said,
amusement creeping through.
Her eyes glinted with his, angry
that he was poking fun at her, but forgot all about it when Gray’s mouth
descended on hers once more. This kiss was softer, gentle, like the first
snowfall of a crisp winter. Their bodies melded together, sharing in the warmth
of each other. She couldn’t get enough, her lips meeting his again and again
and again, until he pressed his forehead to hers and they breathed together,
catching up on the air they’d lost.
“Come on the mission tomorrow?”
He asked.
“You’re supposed to ask a
different question now.” Natalie said.
He grinned an impish smile, “go
out with me?”
Natalie kissed him softly, “I’ll
come on the mission, as long as Juvia doesn’t come.”
He shook his head, chuckling. “You’ll
have to get over this one day.”
“Don’t count on it.”
He kissed her again, letting his
icy mind melt and wash away in her waves. Sure she was stubborn, she was
difficult and crass and sarcastic. But she was his water mage, and she was the
only one for him.
